Questions and Answers

A. Usually less than 2 weeks.

A. The shipping regulations are much easier than one might think.  It is perfectly legal for an individual to ship a firearm directly to me and I am able to ship it directly back to that individual without going through a dealer.  I am required to return the firearm only to the name and address from which it came.  To return it to any other person or address would be recognized as a transfer and would require that a dealer receive the gun at the other end.  You can use any carrier that you like the U.S. Postal Service is probably the most convenient followed by UPS or Fed-Ex.  What ever works best for you will work fine for me.  Be sure to insure the package for full replacement value, this will insure that a signature is required

A. We cannot ship any firearms out of the country but we can ship any of our products.  For the most part we ship US Postal Small Packets - Airmail or (Par Avion), or we can ship Global Priority or Global express.  To calculate the shipping cost you can go to the United States Postal Service  home page and then enter your information.

A. Before shipping any firearm, it is best to contact me first so that we can discuss all the details.    Upon completion of all the work I will contact you before the firearm is shipped so that you will know it is on the way and also make any final payment arrangements that might be necessary.

A. The rifles built at Score High Gunsmithing are as accurate as their components will allow them to be.  Each rifle is capable of world class accuracy.  A sporter weight rifle with a standard chamber will typically shoot about a 3/8" five shot group at a hundred yards.  Tight neck chambered sporters shoot even better.  The Heavy Varmint modals and the bench rest guns are capable of shooting in the .100's or sub .100's.  To achieve accuracy of this degree everything has to be perfect. Not only do you have to have a perfect rifle but you have to have perfect ammunition, a ridged shooting bench and a  high quality rest.  By far the most important and the hardest to attain is perfect technique and discipline  but with out it you just can't consistently shoot 3/8"or less.  There is one more very important factor, weather conditions.  There have been a lot of very prestigious matches won with aggregates of greater than 3/4" because of tricky unpredictable weather.
We guarantee you an accurate rifle.  If you feel your Score High rifle doesn't shoot as well as it should we will go over it again and again until it does.  Return it to us along with 50 or so rounds of ammo and we will take it to the range and find out why.  We have had in the past a couple of barrels that for whatever reason, where not capable of extreme accuracy, those barrels where replaced. and the rifles taken out to the range and tested.

A. No fluting your barrel will not make it more accurate, it will however make it lighter.  Fluting can be a very involved topic.  Follow this link if you are interested in more of my views about barrel fluting .

A. Yes I can build both Wilson style hand dies or 7/8 x 14 threaded dies there are a number of options here so its difficult to give pricing until we have discussed your needs.

A. That really depends on the bedding job.  Usually you can bed about 3 actions with a 4oz Kit.  Some stocks with large barrel channels to be filled can require as much as 6 or 7 ounces of epoxy.

A. On most all bolt action rifles the magazine box is held in position by a cut out in the receiver.  The Browning A-bolt uses the floor plate to attach their magazine box. Browning's box system is simply not conducive to use with a Benchrest follower.

A. Although we do gunsmithing we do not carry a supply of parts.

Drill Jig rental questions

Question:  If I order epoxy and or pillars along with the drill jig rental will I incur a $9.00 shipping and handling charge for each or will one $9.00 charge cover both?

Answer: Yes $9.00 will cover all domestic shipping cost.

Question: I use Brownell’s pillars.  Can I rent a drill jig designed to work with 9/16 diameter drills?

Answer: Yes be sure to specify 5/8 or 9/16 when placing your order.

Question: Am I allowed to drill more than one stock with my rental?

Answer: Yes

Question: If I decide that I want to own the jig, can I credit the rental towards the purchase of a new Jig?

Answer: Yes if within 30 days you decide you would like to own your own jig, you will receive a credit for $48.00 to apply towards that purchase.  Because the drill jigs used for rental are marked “Property of Score High Gunsmithing” we request that you return the rental and we will ship you a new jig.

Question: You say there is a return shipping label included.  How does that work?

Answer: Do a quick inventory to be sure all of the components have found their way back into the pelican case.  There should be no empty compartments.  Place the pelican case back in the cardboard box and seal with tape.  Affix the label to the box and deliver to any authorized UPS shipping station.  You are not to give them any money, this is a prepaid label.  Almost all pack and ship places can receive the package.  Also most all Office Depots and Staples office supply ship packages via UPS.  Also you can place the package in the hands of any UPS driver

Question: Do you make drill jigs for rifles other than Remingtons?

Answer: Not at this time but we are actively working on adding to the product line.

Question: I want to pillar bed my rifle but I don’t want to buy or rent the drilling jig.  Can you drill my stock for Me?  If so, How much and how long? Do you need to have the Barreled action or can I ship just the stock?

Answer: Yes, We can drill your stock for you and return it the next business day.  The cost is $15.00 plus return shipping.  Return shipping can range from $15.00 to $35.00 depending upon insurance cost and package weight.  We do not need anything more than just the stock

Question: If I send you my stock for drilling and at the same time order a Pillar bedding kit, can I get a discount on drilling the stock?

Answer: Yes, we can drill your stock for free if you purchase a Pillar bedding kit.
